Parking: street parking along Catherine St or Mayland Ave
Cost: free
Age Range: all ages
Ground Cover: wood mulch
Features: This is a unique playspace with non-traditional playground elements. The main feature is a very large swing set with 2 big kid swings. A large metal dome climbing structure is the other main attraction. Also included in the play area is a springy see saw, a standing spin around, and a double spin accelerator. 2 more big kid swings and 2 baby swings are also scattered in the play area.
Surrounding Park Area: Directly adjacent to the play area is a large open field and further across is a pavilion. The park is surrounded by a residential neighborhood.
Shade: None.
Seating: Several benches
Stroller/Wheelchair Access: Yes, a concrete walkway down from the street to the playground.
Safety: The spin around and the double spin accelerator are fast! I saw several kids get scared by going so fast, and perhaps that is the child’s comfort level, but they seem awfully fast.
Cons: There are not any traditional slides or jungle gym type structures here on this playground, so if you’re looking for that, this is not it. The day I visited this playground was a mild summer evening, around 6 pm or so. There were lots of kids there, but very very few adults. It seems like there is not a lot of adult supervision going on, although all the kids knew each other, so maybe that makes it better…
Overall Assessment: This is not a very large play area and if you didn’t live in the area, there is probably no reason to head to this playground to play.
