Parking: on street parking along Iverson
Age Range: older toddlers and up
Ground Cover: wood mulch
Features: climbing playground featuring balance beam, several rock walls, balance pillars, ladders, and hanging bars and monkey bars; separate swing area (2 big kid swings), water fountain
Surrounding Park Area: green space that can be a variety of sports fields; volleyball net
Shade: trees surrounding the park, but not really any shade at all over the playground
Seating: no benches
Stroller/Wheelchair Access: Not really for wheelchairs. You can obtain access to the park from a paved walkway, but inside the park there are no walkways – just grass.
Safety: It’s all climbing and hanging stuff – you know your kid best when it comes to that sort of thing.
Cons: nothing for my baby or young toddler to do on the play structure. No bathroom.
Overall Assessment: Well, I’m not terribly impressed by this new equipment. I’m not sure when it was updated, but the equipment is fairly new. It is not a traditional playground with slides and tunnels and things like that – just things to climb on. My child was way too young for everything here as he needs help with footing on rock walls, cannot do monkey bars, and wants me to hold his hand on the balance beam. I like the field area, though. It is blocked by trees and not so large that it’s overwhelming. Definitely I should have brought a ball and then my son would have had a blast. That being said, I probably won’t come back here on my own for awhile.
