Parking: street parking
Cost: free
Age Range: ages 4-10 (this is not a playground for toddlers or babies)
Ground Cover: wood mulch
Features: one huge jungle gym that features several types of monkey bars, slides, hanging bars, and climbing tunnels. There are no swings.
Surrounding Park Area: small park area about the size of two or three house lots. There is some greenspace and trees, but not a lot.
Shade: The actual playground is not shaded, but there are some trees over the benches.
Seating: There are two benches, although they are not directly adjacent to the playground.
Stroller/Wheelchair Access: none
Safety: This playground is particularly tall and has some particularly advanced maneuvering for younger kids. There are a lot of monkey bars and places that a toddler could be pushed out and fall from a tall height.
Cons: This park is not on the priority list for the city of Atlanta. When I went, the mulch looked like it had been recently replaced, but only in certain spots (maybe they ran out of money to remulch it all??? Maybe they were lazy?? Who knows…), which lended itself to an odd appearance.
Overall Assessment: I can imagine that when it snows, this area is particularly fun because there is a moderate slope down the edge of the park. I bet it would be fun to sled down it. That being said, that’s about the only fun thing about this playground. It’s a little run down, a little old, and a little too advanced for most kids. If you live right here, enjoy it, but if you don’t …don’t bother.
It’s been renovated!! Come check it out!
